Do you need bait to catch a fish in animal crossing city folk?

i just got the game today and i bought a fishing pole but i dont know if u need bait because the fish go close to it and swim away. so do u need bait? or can you do it without bait. if u need bait how do u get it and how do u get it on the hook. also if u ordered something how long does it take to get to your house how do u open the mailbox? because i ordered something today but havent gotten it yet. thanks!

You don’t need bait. It’s just pretty hard to catch a fish, since they’re very scared (in the game at least). And you will get your item the next day. I just go back to the Animal Crossing menu (where Rover is) and set the date to tomorrow.

No you don’t need bait, you might be pulling in the line a bit too early?
You get the ordered thing tomorrow and you open the mailbox with A button
